Midstate Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Students at Scholarship Award Event

On Tuesday, July 18th, 2023, the Midstate Chamber of Commerce recognized their 2023 Student Education Awards Recipients. This event was held at Chamber member Taino Smokehouse Prime, located at 1388 East Main Street in Meriden, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. This year's recipients included Emily Anastasio (Platt), Lacie Cox (Maloney), Kiara Crespo (Platt), Sandy Fernandez (returning student attending Middlesex), Sean Finn (Maloney), Molly Ann O'Malley (Maloney), Sophia Papciak (Maloney), Shiv Patel (Maloney), and Darilyn Rivera (Maloney).Since 1987, the Midstate Chamber of Commerce has awarded over $147,000 to more than 174 students in the area. Funds for the Sanford S. Shorr awards are raised mainly through the Midstate Chamber Golf Tournament (held June 2023 at Hunter Golf Club and Violi's Restaurant). The HOLA awards are funded through efforts from our Hispanic Outreach Leaders in Action Committee. The Jonal / Kannenberg Award and the Frank A. & Charlotte G. Young Award are raised through separate funds that are held through the Community Foundation of Meriden & Wallingford, who have entrusted the Chamber to disperse them annually. We wish all these students well as they embark on their next step to higher education and hope they will return to work and volunteer in their hometown area after their college experience!
The Midstate Chamber of Commerce proudly serves, supports, and promotes its member businesses in Berlin, Cheshire, Meriden, Southington, Wallingford, and central Connecticut (CT).
