Chris Albino, PE, manager of structural engineering, of Southington, has been named a principal at BL Companies. Mr. Albino has more than 16 years of structural engineering experience that covers a broad range of projects in the public and private sectors. He has been involved in the structural design of numerous retail, industrial, municipal and residential buildings. Additionally, he is experienced in site design, roadway design and geotechnical investigations. Mr. Albino earned a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He is a professional engineer in Connecticut, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia.Mina Almengor, director of human resources and administration, of Middletown, has been named a principal at BL Companies. Ms. Almengor has been employed at BL Companies since 1997. She is responsible for the planning and administration of all phases of human resources for BL Companies. Prior to joining BL Companies, Ms. Almengor worked at the Connecticut State Legislature as a Legislative Assistant. She earned a Human Resources Professional Certificate from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, CT.
David Parent, director, information systems, who resides in Wallingford, has been named a principal at BL Companies. Mr. Parent has 14 years computer administration experience. Mr. Parent is responsible for maintaining, upgrading and planning the computer infrastructure for all seven BL Companies' offices. This includes server hardware and OS, network hardware and OS, desktop hardware and software support, software upgrades and security updates, printer - plotter setup and maintenance, office-wide backup and archiving. Other tasks include maintaining BL's Firewall with VPN and FTP services. He earned a degree from Porter and Chester Institute and is Microsoft certified.
Donald A. Smith, L.S., senior land surveyor, has been named a principal at BL Companies. Mr. Smith, who resides in Middlefield, has more than 12 years of professional experience encompassing a full range of surveying and mapping services. He is responsible for performing and overseeing boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA / ACSM land title surveys, construction project stakeout, survey calculations, deed/title research, level runs, and all related surveying mapping. Mr. Smith earned both a bachelor's of arts degree in earth science from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT and an associate's degree in civil engineering/structural from Bristol Community College in Fall River, MA. He is a licensed land surveyor in Connecticut, and a member of the Connecticut Association of Land Surveyors.
