Holiday Sale Safety Tips from Golden Horizons

The holidays are a major time for theft, both offline and online. Here are some tips for staying safe while shopping: - Shop with a friend or family member. Shoppers who are out alone make for easier targets for thieves. - If shopping with children, have some guidelines - like a pre-designated place to meet in case of separation. Make sure they know to talk to security or store staff if separated from you. - Put all purchases in the trunk, or hide them from sight. Thieves will usually try to rummage through cars if they see something valuable first. - Save all receipts and print all confirmations (if shopping online). Having these will help you monitor if any thief attempts identity theft. - Hold your pocketbook close or keep your wallet in a front pocket where you can guard it well. It will prevent pickpocketing. Further, don't take out your credit card until bidden so as to prevent eyes from memorizing your card info. - If shopping online, shop on sites and stores you trust. Consider using a one-time or multiple purchase disposable credit card to also prevent identity theft.
