Top 5 Tips For Bathroom Remodeling: A small affordable project with a big impact! 1. Increase The Space In Your Bathroom - If space is an issue in your master bath; consider a remodel which will expand it in any direction possible. Extra square footage will open up a cramped bathroom and increase remodeling possibilities. Taking out a wall and replacing it with a window will allow natural lighting to flow into the room and create a more open feeling. Choosing the right window treatment is also important since you want sunlight to come through, but also you will want to choose a treatment that offers privacy. If new windows aren't an option consider, adding skylights! 2. Change The Flooring Ceramic or porcelain tile is an elegant choice for bathroom flooring. Using a natural tone such as ivory or taupe will keep the bathroom looking fresh and light. If you think ceramic or porcelain tile will be too cold to walk on in the winter, add radiant floor heating. Radiant floor heating provides heat from below your floor keeping your tiles, room as well as your feet very warm. This type of heating system is installed beneath the floor and is controlled by a thermostat that you can set, turn on or turn off. If installing a new heating system doesn't fit with your remodeling budget, strategically place throw rugs in the areas where most needed. 3. Add More Storage Since most people have many hygiene products a bathroom remodel is the perfect time to increase your storage space to ensure better bathroom organization. Here are a few options: Add a larger bathroom vanity cabinet, a vanity wall cabinet, a new medicine cabinet, a vanity hamper closet, a tall linen cabinet, a drawer base cabinet or even shelves to store all of these necessary items. Cabinets that have molding and glass fronts increase the appeal of the bathroom by giving it more character. If you can't replace your cabinets, consider adding decorative knobs and pulls to update the look of your cabinets. 4. Create A Relaxing Environment by adding a comfortable chair to give your bathroom a luxurious touch. Being able to take a break and sit after a relaxing bath is a wonderful option. Also use soft, natural colors in your bathroom to create a calming environment. If you use an overall neutral color theme in your bathroom, you can add bright accessories such as towels or curtains as your accent colors to make the room "Pop". 5. Consider Replacing Or Adding Light Fixtures to allow the option of having softer lighting for those relaxing evenings in the tub, or brighter lighting for grooming purposes. Fill your room with scented candles, plants, flowers and art. All of the little extras help beautify your bathroom. Have fun with your bath remodel. The goal is to make your bathroom a place that welcomes you with a warm atmosphere both morning and night.
