Rail Construction Update: Town of Wallingford for May 13- May 16, 2016

Beginning on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. and concluding by Monday, May 16, 2016 at 4:00 p.m., the North Plains Highway railroad crossing will be closed to through traffic to construct improvements to the at grade crossing. Construction activities will include installing a grade crossing track panel for the future second track, drainage and utility work, and roadway milling and paving.Traffic personnel will be in place throughout the duration of construction. Signs alerting the public to the road closure and detour routes will be posted.
Between April and June at grade railroad crossings will be improved at seven locations within the Town of Wallingford. Three crossings have already been completed (Toelles Road, Ward Street and Parker Street). Besides this weekend's work at North Plains Highway, future crossings will be improved at Pent Highway, Quinnipiac Street and Hall Avenue.
Please note that this schedule is subject to change.
This work is part of the overall upgrade of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield commuter rail line � now branded as the Ctrail Hartford Line � scheduled to begin expanded service in January 2018.
