Farmington, Connecticut - - June 22, 2004 - - Managed care company ConnectiCare is further enhancing its website to provide even more capabilities for ConnectiCare members who are interested in taking a more active role in researching their medical and prescription drug options.

The enhancements, a combined suite of web tools called HealthcareAdvisor(tm) and Pharma Advisor(tm), developed by Subimo, an industry leader in providing comprehensive, web-based health care information.

The on-line resource will be available online July 1. As a result, 270,000 ConnectiCare members in Connecticut and Massachusetts with have access to specific and useful medical information, as the consumer-driven health movement increasingly requires individuals to be active in health care decision-making.

According to ConnectiCare, HealthcareAdvisor and Pharma Advisor are superior as they go well beyond simply providing content on medical procedures and conditions - - they couple the information with data and analysis for effective decision-making.

"ConnectiCare has been a leader in combining user-friendly, cutting-edge technology with its personalized customer service to give members the freedom of 24/7 self-service, along with the comfort of speaking with a service representative," said Mark Dixon, Chief Information Officer for ConnectiCare. "The new Advisor suite will further enhance the web tools that members already have available, and enable them to be more informed and effective consumers of health services," Dixon added.

The HealthcareAdvisor combines medical information with important quantitative data gathered from dozens of different databases. HealthcareAdvisor provides information on more than 90 hospital procedures and types of care then compares hospitals on procedure volumes, complications, patient safety standards, hospital technology and other information that isn't readily available to the public.

The Pharma Advisor enhances this process by providing members with unbiased, credible information on drug choices for numerous medical conditions. This type of prescription drug information is extremely valuable to members researching drug therapy options and for those learning about generic options, if drug cost savings is an objective, for example.

Both the HeathcareAdvisor and Pharma Advisor are available at no cost to ConnectiCare members at www.connecticare.com. Members will find that these web-based tools are easy to use and organized with the member's objectives in mind.

Using the HealthcareAdvisor, members can: - Make an educated decision - - address and act on key health-related decisions and manage one's health. - Connect to community - - connect to a network of other patients with similar concerns, and - Tap into a comprehensive Resource Center - - with variety of information, including an on-line medical encyclopedia and links to related sites.

Using the Pharma Advisor, members can: - Understand what drugs are available - - for common conditions like asthma, allergies, high blood pressure, and depression. - Manage pharmacy benefit effectively - - by viewing information that compares costs and other factors, including side effects, efficacy, and dosage. - Improve visits to the doctor -- by offering a customized list of questions to discuss with your doctor, and Determine potential drug interactions - with medication they are currently taking, or considering taking.
