Literacy Volunteers Welcomes Martha Colaresi

Literacy Volunteers is pleased to welcome Martha Colaresi as the new ESOL Program Manager for Meriden and Wallingford. Colaresi will be responsible for expanding the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program in Meriden and Wallingford, registering and recruiting volunteer tutors.

Colaresi has experience in the nonprofit sector in Meriden and New Haven, doing fund development, program work, marketing communications, and building relationships with community partners. During her time with LEAP in New Haven, an organization that provides enrichment activities for students in undeserved neighborhoods, Colaresi planned special events as a project manager, sponsor solicitor, and grant writer. While working in Choate Rosemary Hall's Development Department, Colaresi was also an ESOL tutor. Most recently, Colaresi was a Program Director at Casa Boricua de Meriden, Inc., where she developed educational, enrichment, and advancement programs.

Colaresi is a Meriden resident who is passionate about reading and adult literacy, and committed to Literacy Volunteers' mission of empowerment through literacy.

Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is "To empower adults through literacy". Their goal is to create a community where 100% literacy is the norm, and all adults have the literacy skills to get good jobs and help their children succeed in school. Literacy Volunteers recruits, trains, and supports volunteer tutors who, provide free Reading and English conversation classes. The Literacy Resource Center is located at 14 West Main Street in Meriden.
