February 20, 2002

Starting April 9th, the Meriden Health Department will run a free seven-week quit smoking seminar. The program will be held Tuesdays at the Meriden Health Department on 165 Miller Street from 6-7:30 p.m. The program will include behavior modification, social support, relaxation techniques and maintenance. A quit day is built into the program so that all participants will quit at the same time. A brief information session will be held at the Meriden Public Library on Wednesday, March 27th. Pharmacist Sam Kalmanowitz from Kaye's Pharmacy will discuss the optional use of nicotine replacement therapy and/or Zyban, a non-nicotine quit smoking pharmaceutical aid. The medications are optional and must be supplied by the participant. Persons interested should contact Debbie Roman at 630-4104. Pre-registration is required.
