City Of Meriden Heart Safe Community CPR and AED Survey

July 31, 2011

Does your business or community organization have staff currently trained in CPR(cardiopulmonary resuscitation)? Do you have an AED(automated external defibrillator), a light weight portable electronic device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart, on site? The City Of Meriden is reapplying to maintain status as a HEART Safe Community. You have noticed the HEART Safe Community signs on the side of the road. This designation was first awarded to Meriden by the Connecticut Department of Public Health in September 2008. In order to keep our status, a city the size of Meriden has to have a minimum of 15 AeED sited and 75 citizens trained in CPR.

The Meriden Health Department is Conducting a Survey on the number of AED devices and number of currently certified CPR/AED individuals in the city. If your location has an AED, or has staff currently trained in CPR, please let us know by calling the Community Health Education office at (203) 630-4238 or email lcrown@ci.meriden.ct.us. Please reply by August 31st. Thank you.
