Two New Area Codes Beginning
November 12, 2009
New area code 475 will overlay the 203 area code region and new area code 959 will overlay the 860 area code region. The introduction of these two new area codes will bring mandatory 10-digit local dialing to the state. Effective Nov. 14, 2009, you will have to dial all phone numbers using all 10 digits (area code with phone number) for local calls to be completed.
