The Chamber would like to thank Shayla Ellison who has been our Summer Youth Employment specialist for the past six weeks here at the Greater Meriden Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Ellison has worked on the creation of the chamber flyers, computer spreadsheet and database work, Chamber web site upgrades, telephone work and more. She was a joy to work with. We wish her continued success at Wilcox as she makes her move from the Hospitality to the Computer Science program. She will be excellent in either one of her chosen fields of work!Legislators are to be commended for voting for one of the big successes in the 2006 legislative session: the funding of $4 million for youth employment programs, including summer jobs, which was locally distributed through the Workforce Alliance, the 30 town regional workforce development board.
We'd also like to thank Denise Kearing, Leah Godcher and all of the staff for administering this important program which gives students real work experience in real workplaces.
