City Proposes Interstate Development District for 70-Acre Preston Avenue Property

January 26, 2010

City Proposes Interstate Development District for 70-Acre Preston Avenue Property The City hopes to adopt a new zoning district for the 70-plus acre Hall Farm property at 436-444 Preston Avenue. This new district would propose a mix of commercial and residential development for the property located within the triangle formed by I-91, I-691/Route 66 and Preston Avenue. This location provides excellent access to the regional transportation system. Meriden's 2009 Plan of Conservation and Development designates the property as a growth area. A draft of the new district zoning will be reviewed by the Meriden Planning Commission this month. The new zone will permit a mix of businesses, including shops, restaurants, banks, offices and hotels as well as residential units.
