The MidState Medical Center Auxiliary hosts Annual Meeting

October 15, 2007

The MidState Medical Center Auxiliary held their annual meeting on Monday, October 15, and there were many surprises in the way of Auxiliary support. Heather Metzger, Auxiliary President, presented Lucille Janatka, President and CEO, with a check for $100,000, the last payment in the Auxiliary's pledge of Pavilion D.

Heather recounted the many accomplishments of the Auxiliary this fiscal year, including the support of the Family Birthing Center*s infant massage classes, gift bags for delivering moms, new technology for the unit, and sponsorship of this year's Cancer Survivors' Day.

Following the check presentation, Fred Tilden, MD, Medical Director of the Emergency Department, discussed MidState's expansion project. He addressed all the key drivers considered in designing the ED, among them an enhanced patient and family experience, a great first impression, and staff amenities. The new ED will have 52 treatment spaces with private rooms, a separate area for behavioral health patients, and open spaces to increase nurse accessibility. It will be unique in that it will have a radiology suite with a cat scan and two radiology rooms. "This is pretty robust for a community hospital," said Dr. Tilden.

Perhaps the greatest moment came at the end of the Auxiliary's meeting when Heather proudly pledged the Auxiliary's financial support of the expansion project support worth $300,000!
