MidState Medical Center has announced the appointment of Jeffrey A. Flaks, MHA, as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He will report to Lucille Janatka, FACHE, president and CEO."Jeff has a proven track record of achievements in operations, management, service-quality improvement, physician recruitment, and business development," says Janatka, "He will play an integral role in our continued growth and in our efforts to provide a superior standard of care for our patients, as well as an excellent environment for our talented health care professionals."
"We're delighted to welcome Jeff to the MidState management team," Janatka added. "He will be a valuable contributor in our efforts to ensure high-quality care in an environment that values privacy and fiscal responsibility, includes patients and their families in decision making, and treats everyone with respect."
Flaks most recently served as vice president for Support Services and Strategic Initiatives at Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers of New York. He is a graduate of Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration and has a Master of Health Services Administration from The George Washington University, in Washington, D.C.
Flaks is a member of the Board of Trustees of The George Washington University, and was selected as the 2001 Modern Healthcare �Up and Comer,' as well as a 2001 Crain's New York Business �New York's Rising Stars: 40 under 40.' He is also the chairman of the Editorial Board of the Healthcare Executive Journal.
