MidState Medical Center has joined forces with the city and state to provide employees with another incentive - homes of their own. Announced at MidState's recent annual meeting, the program will help MidState's employees purchase homes near the core of the city through a combination of state-sponsored low and no interest loans, and in some cases, a grant from the hospital to help cover down payment and closing costs. President and CEO Lucille A. Janatka stated, "Our hope is that this will serve as a benefit to encourage our employees to live in Meriden and remain a member of the MidState Medical Center team." Mayor Mark D. Benigni cited many benefits of the program including increasing tax rolls, revitalizing neighborhoods, and boosting deteriorating buildings. All parties involved look forward to the continuing partnership among the city, state, and MidState Medical Center.Dr. William J. Farrell spoke of another partnership designed to help MidState keep its competitive edge. MidState cardiologists may treat their patients at Hartford Hospital, where there is access to advanced treatments such as radiation treatment, and invasive treatments such as angioplasty.
