On Saturday, May 8 the United Way of Meriden and Wallingford is teaming up with the National Association of Letter Carriers, Merged Branch 20, (Meriden), Merged Branch 19 (Wallingford) and the U.S. Postal Service to sponsor a Food Drive in Meriden and Wallingford. The Volunteer Center, Meriden Jaycees and Choate-Rosemary Hall also proudly support this event.Residents are invited to put out nonperishable food donations in the morning for the letter carriers' pickup. All foods will be taken to the food pantries in Meriden and the American Red Cross Meriden-Wallingford Branch food pantry in Wallingford for local distribution to the needy. Last year, United Way supported programs enabled more than 8,500 bags of food to be distributed to local families. This information is intended for immediate release.
