Mxcc Meriden is Expanding!

April 10, 2012

The Meriden Center at Middlesex Community College is expanding! Acquiring additional space is being negotiated in the building at 55 West Main Street for more classrooms, student activity space, and administrative space. In addition, the center has expanded its hours on Saturdays from 9-12pm.

The Center also just welcomed another full-time staff member from our Middletown campus. Mensimah Shabazz is the new Director of Academic Initiatives. She will be working on advising students, a study abroad program, international student admissions, and academic programming. The Meriden Center's curriculum is also expanding.

This fall the Meriden Center will offer a variety of hands-on art courses as well as digital photography. These will be followed up with an expansion of our language offerings to include Chinese in the spring of 2013. Another area of expansion is our student base. This spring the Meriden Center of Middlesex Community College is hosting 50 8th graders from Lincoln and Washington middle schools. These are high achieving students who are taking enrichment workshops in writing, science, and math. Stay tuned for more growth from the Meriden Center in the next few months!
