Sutherland Insurance Group Hires Antonio Pinto

The Sutherland Insurance Group, a full-service independent insurance brokerage affiliated with Naugatuck Savings Bank, has hired Antonio Paulo Pinto, of Waterbury, as an account executive.In his new position, Pinto will be responsible for managing, servicing and growing the agency's individual and business health insurance customer base. With many aspects of President Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as "Obamacare," scheduled to take effect in January, Pinto will also be helping agency customers make the right decisions on their future health insurance needs.
Pinto created and released Obamacare411, a popular iPhone app on health care reform, a related website, and has authored a series of books on the subject. He is also a member of the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange's SHOP (Small Business Health Options Program) advisory committee.
Pinto was previously an independent health insurance consultant specializing in health insurance and health care reform as it relates to individuals and businesses. Before that, he operated insurance agencies in both Connecticut and New York.
A Waterbury native, Pinto was a member of the city's board of aldermen in 2009 and board of education from 2007 to 2009. He was a 2006 recipient of Business Times New Haven's "Forty Under 40" award.
He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. Prior to that, he earned an associate degree from Waterbury State Technical College. He is a 1987 graduate of Holy Cross High School in Waterbury.
