Masonicare Names Javier Salabarria, MD, Director of Behavioral Health

Masonicare is pleased to announce that Dr. Javier Salabarria has been named Director of Behavioral Health. He will be responsible for overseeing the clinical services in the organization's inpatient Geriatric Medical Psychiatric Program (GMPP) as well as the inpatient and outpatient geriatric psychiatric consultative services. He will also be treating patients as an attending physician in the GMPP's 29-bed acute psychiatric unit.

Dr. Salabarria comes to Masonicare from Griffin Hospital where he was Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry. Prior to that, he served as Director of Outpatient Psychiatry at Hospital of Central Connecticut.

In making the announcement, Dr. Steven Angelo, Vice President for Medical Affairs, said, "Masonicare is already recognized statewide for innovation in the field of geriatric psychiatry with a track record of success. We are truly delighted to welcome someone of Dr. Salabarria's caliber to our team and see him as an integral piece in our mission to make Masonicare a geriatric center of excellence."

Dr.Salabarria earned his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency at the Harvard University-affiliated Mass General-McLean Program followed by a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at Yale University.

Dr. Salabarria and his family live in Wallingford.
