What do Kuhn Employment Opportunities workers, the United Way of Meriden-Wallingford and a small business called "Envelopes Anyone" have in common? Envelopes of course.Kuhn participants were recently given the job of producing specially designed envelopes for an order placed by the Meriden-Wallingford United Way with Envelopes Anyone. The result was 2,500 uniquely designed envelopes delivered on time, with quality and customer satisfaction. A happy ending with a special meaning since Envelopes Anyone and the United Way relied on Kuhn workers with disabilities to do the work.
"We were excited about producing the special envelopes," said Joan Shea, Kuhn's Manager of Contracts & Employment Development. "It meant training our workers to meet the challenge and they did wonderfully at a competitive cost. We all benefit---Kuhn workers, the United Way of Meriden-Wallingford who will use the envelopes in a special mailing and Envelopes Anyone who continues to grow their business." Kuhn participants are currently employed or subcontracted to work by approximately 100 businesses in New Haven, Middlesex and Hartford Counties within Connecticut.
