In continuing its commitment to excellence and service to the communities it services, Hunter's Ambulance Service has implemented two new lifesaving programs. It has placed life-saving Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in all of their ambulances, and has begun the process of training and certifying of telecommunication personnel as Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMD). The AED device is designed to increase the chance of survival of individuals whose heart stops, known as cardiac arrest, by delivering an electrical current in certain situations. EMD training will allow Hunter's Ambulance EMD certified telecommunicators to ask the emergency caller certain information that assists in sending an ambulance using a nationally-accepted standard. When a life-threatening situation occurs, the EMD can instruct the caller in potentially life-saving techniques. Dana Hunter-Moyer, Operations Manager, believes the new procedures assist their mission of saving lives and "Concern For Others".
