House and Senate Override Governor's Veto of SustiNet Bill

On July 20, 2009, Governor Rell's veto of the SustiNet bill (HB6600) was overidden by the House voting 102 - 40 and by the Senate voting 24 -12. The Greater Meriden Chamber would like to recognize the leadership of Representative Steve Fontana of the 87th for his knowledge of the issues and the courage to lead the charge, especially through the debates on the floor of the House. Senator Jonathan A. Harris, as the Chair of the Public Health Committee, led the charge in the Senate.We look forward to the next 18 to 24 months as we continue to work with the Universal Health Care Foundation, the Small Businesses for Health Care Reform and the new SustiNet Health Partnership board of directors to make more accessible and affordable health care a reality in Connecticut.
