William C. Ferry of Cheshire has been elected to the executive committee of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association. Ferry is a licensed funeral director and embalmer at John J. Ferry & Sons Inc., 88 E. Main St. The family owned funeral home was established by his great-grandfather in 1890. Ferry became a funeral director/embalmer in 1974 after completing professional schooling at the American Academy Mc Allister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City. Ferry grew up in Meriden and received a bachelor's degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. During the 1980s through the early 1990s, he worked in Treaty Reinsurance in New York City before rejoining the funeral home 12 years ago. He now lives in Cheshire with his wife, Tracy, and their two children. The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association is made up of funeral directors at more than 220 funeral homes. The Wethersfield-based association was founded in 1889.
