Meriden Meals-on-Wheels Program

December 29, 2011

We would like to take this opportunity to share with you some important information about the Meriden Meals-on-Wheels Program. This service can make a big difference in people's lives by helping seniors, people with chronic illnesses or disabilities and others in Meriden continue to live independently at home by receiving a home delivered meal each day. This program also provides a daily welfare check on the recipients and emergency procedures are followed if the person does not answer the door, is sick or has fallen at home. Meals-on-Wheels are for those who are unable to cook for themselves and need a prepared meal delivered to their home to maintain a healthy diet. The meals are therapeutic and based on individual dietary needs. Hispanic meals are available. Meals are delivered warm in microwaveable containers and can be refrigerated and reheated. The cost of the meal is $4.00 per day (payable one week in advance) with an additional second sandwich meal option available for an added $1.00 per day. Meals are delivered each Monday through Friday between 10:30am and 12:30pm; weekend meals are also available. To receive Meals-on-Wheels individuals or family members can call our office directly at (203) 238-7743. A referral from a physician or other health care provider is not necessary.
