Masonicare Home Health & Hospice Names New Hospice Medical Director

August 24, 2009

Jenelyn C. Lim, M.D., of Stratford, has been named hospice medical director for Masonicare's homecare affiliate, Masonicare Home Health & Hospice. As medical director for the statewide hospice and palliative care program, Dr. Lim will be responsible for administration, community and physician outreach, program development and consultation with care partners both within and outside of the Masonicare continuum. In 2008, the not-for-profit organization provided more than 100,000 days of hospice care to patients and families in Connecticut.

"For over a decade, Masonicare Home Health has brought compassionate hospice care to patients in their homes. We are extremely pleased to have at the helm of this important program a physician of Dr. Lim's stature. She has been at the forefront of palliative and hospice care both clinically and academically, and in a variety of settings, as well," noted Stephen B. McPherson, president and CEO of Masonicare.

An associate clinical professor at Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Lim has held medical director positions with two hospice programs in Connecticut, one in home care and the other residential. She also served as associate medical director of the palliative care program at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. Dr. Lim has organized or volunteered in three medical missions. She maintains a limited private practice in internal and palliative medicine in Stratford.

Dr. Lim is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and hospice and palliative care medicine, as well as by the American Academy of Home Care Physicians. She is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University. She earned her M.D. at University of the East, Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in the Philippines before becoming a resident physician at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington where she subsequently was Chief Medical Resident.

Masonicare is Connecticut's largest not-for-profit provider of senior healthcare and retirement living. In addition to Masonicare Home Health & Hospice, its continuum of care includes Masonicare Health Center, Masonicare at Ashlar Village, Masonicare at Newtown and, most recently, Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice, a partnership with Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford.
