Cuno's Enfield division, Cuno Water Group, has added an employee training program to keep up with recent growth. The company received a $100,000 state Department of Labor grant and established classes at Asnuntuck Community Technical College. Cuno matches the grant dollar for dollar in paid time off to participating employees and will provide $100,000 in matching funds. The training program includes computer and quality assurance classes as well as classes in basic math and English as a second language. Frank Gulluni, director of the machine technology center at the College, is trying to persuade more companies to invest in similar programs. Recently, Cuno was named by Forbes magazine as one of the 200 best small companies. It employs 1,400 people worldwide, with 750 employees in Meriden, Enfield and Stafford Springs.
