At its annual meeting, the CUNO Foundation will distribute grants to eleven area non-profit organizations in order that they can continue to provide programs to residents. Distribution Committee Chairman, L. Clark Robison, noted that competition for those grants was keen; 21 request were reviewed and it was a difficult task turning down some very worthwhile projects. The Foundation was gratified that they could help fund the 11 organization by distributing nearly $34,000. Those receiving the grants were Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Meriden & Wallingford; Meriden Soup Kitchen; Girl Scouts, Connecticut Trails Council; Franciscan Life Center; Castle Craig Adult Learning Center; Cancer Care Partnerships-Silverlinings; Tri Town Duct Tape Bandits Robotics Team No. 228; Castle Craig Players; Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven; Meriden Symphony Orchestra; and the YWCA Family Center. The Committee reviews applications for grants three times a year. Preference is given to proposals submitted by tax-exempt, not-for-profit organizations located in the Meriden area.
