Early this month, the Center celebrated its $2.1 million restoration with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception. The white marble building, almost 100 years old, will be available for an infinite number of community activities. A new, permanent board was recently chosen and the ribbon was cut by Victoria Church, the great, great, great granddaughter of Augusta Curtis. One hundred years earlier, in September of 1901, two of Augusta Curtis' granddaughters, Ruth Squire and Agnes Curtis, laid two ceremonial trowels of mortar on the site of the Curtis Memorial Library. Victoria's father. Allan Church, is the editorial page editor of the Record-Journal and president of the Center's board of directors. One of the musical groups performing at the receptions was Sean, Kelly and Wayne, comprised of Sean and Kelley Moore and Wayne D'Amico.
