Important Tips for Homeowners RE: Prescription Drugs

Theft of prescription drugs is on the rise. Whether you are opening your home to friends or family (for events or parties) or to the public (open houses - estate sales), PLEASE consider these tips to protect YOU and others. Few think about what's in their medicine cabinet and the possibility of people stealing their medications. This is exactly what some people addicted to prescription drugs and drug dealers are counting on and these people may travel in pairs. While one acts as a distraction, the other goes to the medicine cabinet and looks for prescription drugs. Go through your medicine cabinet to make sure all prescription drugs are removed. Lock up or remove prescription drugs from your home during open houses and showings. Dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs. Contact your local police department to learn more about safe ways to dispose of prescription drugs.
