Naugatuck Savings Bank Listed Among Top Workplaces

Naugatuck Savings Bank was listed among the top 10 workplaces in southwest Connecticut in the category of midsized companies and was among the top 35 workplaces of any size in an annual employee satisfaction survey of workers in Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven Counties.

The third annual employee survey was taken this spring by nearly 8,200 workers in southwest Connecticut. It was sponsored by Hearst Connecticut Newspapers and conducted by WorkplaceDynamics LLP, a research firm that specializes in organizational health and employee engagement.

Naugatuck Savings Bank, whose employees were taking the survey for the first time, finished 10th in the midsize (125 to 349 employees) company category and was listed among the 35 top workplaces in the region for 2013. It was the only full-service bank and one of only three companies based in Greater Waterbury to appear among the 35 top workplaces. The other Waterbury-area companies were JP Maguire of Waterbury and Calcagni Real Estate of Cheshire.

About 190 Naugatuck Savings Bank employees participated in the 19-question survey, a participation rate of about 75 percent, said Chuck Boulier, the bank's president and chief executive officer. At least 35 percent of a company's employees must take the survey in order for the firm to be eligible for a top workplaces award.

The survey results stressed the importance Naugatuck Savings Bank workers place on opening and maintaining good lines of communications between management and bank employees. Boulier added that being named among southwest Connecticut's top workplaces "reinforced who we are and also told our customers that we have exceptional employees and that we put a lot of effort into hiring great people with winning attitudes who can provide unparalleled service to our customers."
