Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation Awards $10,000 to Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury

January 28, 2013

The Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury to support its Triple Play Program, a program that encourages healthy lifestyles for children.

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury provides children with after-school and summer activities, and its mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those that are in need the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Boys & Girls Club Triple Play Program encourages children ages 6-13 to live healthy lifestyles by providing education, physical activity and healthy snacks while at the Club.

"Our Foundation has a long history of supporting organizations that make a difference in the quality of lives of the people in the communities where we work and live," said Charles J. Boulier III, CEO and President of Naugatuck Savings Bank. "We are pleased to support the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury's Triple Play Program and admire its comprehensive approach to help solve childhood obesity. As an avid runner myself, I am fortunate to appreciate the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and encourage everyone, young and old, to commit to a healthier lifestyle."

"We are very grateful for Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation's support and enthusiasm for this program," said John Chiero, Executive Director of Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury. "By being able to implement the Triple Play Program, we have the ability to reach many children and demonstrate how eating smart, keeping fit and forming positive relationships all add up to a healthy lifestyle."
