January 13, 2011

Naugatuck Savings Bank Announces the Second Annual Community Awards Program Recognizing Local Organizations.

The Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation is pleased to announce the Second Annual Community Awards Program which allows Naugatuck Savings Bank customers to decide how the Foundation awards $50,000 in grant money to local 501(c)(3) non-profit and charitable organizations. Last year the Foundation awarded grants to 36 local charities under this program.

"As a leading corporate citizen, we believe we have a responsibility to help the communities we live in by assisting non-profit organizations meet their funding needs" stated Mark C. Yanarella, President and CEO of Naugatuck Savings Bank. "We value the opinions of our customers so our Foundation wants them to help us determine what local organizations are most deserving of grant money."

The Second Annual Community Awards program is open to each Naugatuck Savings Bank customer to cast one vote for any local non-profit or charitable organization they would like to recommend to receive grant money. Customers can vote online at naugatucksavingsbank.com or in any of our 15 branch offices. Voting will take place from January 1 through March 31, 2011. The votes will be tabulated in April 2011 and those organizations with the required 1% of total votes will receive a proportional share of the $50,000 with a maximum award of $5,000 per organization. Also, there will be a special award of $500 to six randomly selected eligible organizations that receive less than the required 1% of the votes.

Since 1999, the Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation has awarded more than $3.4 million in grants to area non-profit agencies to support a broad range of programs and services that are consistent with the Foundation's mission to contribute to the betterment of the communities it serves. The Foundation considers a broad range of requests to create opportunities for residents with emphasis on promoting education and the encouragement of homeownership.
