Meriden Attorney Receives Panel Appointment Certificate

November 8, 2009

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London recently granted Houston Putnam Lowry a Panel Appointment "Certificate" - its highest rating for an arbitrator - effective through April 30, 2014.

"This is recognition of my substantial experience in the arbitration field" said Lowry. "While every case is different, having a substantial amount of experience gives an arbitrator a lot of tools to draw upon to resolve the issue at hand." Lowry has done more than 600 commercial arbitrations, including more than 160 domain name disputes under the UDRP.

The Panel Appointment Certificate Scheme ('PACS") was introduced in February 2009, with an implementation date of April 30, 2009. The purpose of the Scheme is to demonstrate publicly that the holder of such a certificate is considered by the Institute to be competent in the field of Private Dispute Resolution (PDR), on a continuing basis, and as such is suitable for Presidential appointments or nominations as an arbitrator. Lowery also hold the Chartered Arbitrator designation (one of only three arbitrators in CT to do so).

Brown & Welsh has a national reputation in business law (domestic and international) and related litigation, arbitration and mediation, including contracts, Uniform Commercial Code (sale of goods, promissory notes, electronic transfer of funds, letters of credit and security interests), bankruptcy, and computer law (including domain name disputes and identity theft).
