June 1, 2010
To demonstrate their continuing commitment to patient care, all physical therapists at Physical Therapy Center of Bristol and Southington-Cheshire, has achieved 100 percent membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). "Achieving 100 percent membership in our professional Association shows our commitment for higher quality, cost effect care, therefore, the patient comes less often," said Craig Zettergren, owner of Physical Therapy Center of Bristol and Southington Cheshire. Each physical therapist member of APTA pledges to abide by the Association's Code of Ethics and Standards of Ethical Conduct, which holds them to a high standard of practice. Physical Therapy Center of Bristol and Southington-Cheshire were established in 2003. The practice is the only clinic in the region to utilize the McKenzie Assessment System. This "three steps to success" in the system includes a thorough assessment, treatment and preventative strategy. In fact, research has shown that the initial McKenzie assessment procedures performed by competent MDT clinicians are as reliable as costly diagnostic imaging (ie. x-rays, MRI) to determine the source of the problem. Patients that have acute low back pain are successfully treated within 6 visits in McKenzie clinics.
