Description: Join us for a Ribbon Cutting of the Fred Ulbrich Jr. Family Center. The Wallingford Emergency Shelter provides temporary housing and warm meals during the winter months to those who are in a state of emergency as the result of a crisis situation or extreme difficulty. These include but are not limited to fire, severe weather conditions, loss of job, disability which causes them to be incapable of supporting themselves, spousal abuse or eviction.

 Dorothy & Marion Whalon Scholarship Award Ceremony

Description: Saint Joseph School will award the Dorothy and Marion Whalon Scholarships. The 2015 recipients are Paul Petrowski, Carolyn Petrowski, Alyssa Daniels, Amy Sullo, Aidan Messier, Michelle Virshup, Deanna Scotto, Chelsea Scott, Brittany Davis, Mia Dupuis, David Robinson, Julia Spencer, Briana Alicea, Julian Cardona, Sarah Garvey, and Heather Vicenty.

The guest speaker at this year’s event will be Attorney John D. Ivers, Jr., Saint Joseph School Class of 1980. We will also be honoring our 2015 Distinguished Alumnus, Joseph Marinan, ’61.

Marion and Dorothy Whalen established the Whalon Scholarship to provide funding for higher education to graduates of Saint Joseph School. All scholarship recipients automatically become members of the "SJS Society of Scholars."

 Chamber Ambassadors - Membership Committee Meeting

Description: The Chamber Ambassadors are the Membership Committee. It is an organization of Chamber members who serve existing and new members of the Chamber.

The Ambassadors have traditionally had the role of retaining and increasing membership of the Chamber, and in recent years have been developing a network for welcoming new businesses to the area and thanking businesses that continue their membership on an annual basis.

The Ambassadors Membership Committee meets at 8:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month.

Description: The Meriden Historical Society will hold a Tag Sale with a rain date of the Saturday following each originally scheduled date. The cost is a $15.00 ($10.00 for members) donation to the Society per set-up. Donations of items to the Society's Table, such as decorative items, collectibles, paintings, photos, jewelry or small household items in working condition, can be dropped off at the Society’s Research center on any Wednesday between 2:00 and 4:30 pm.

 Vietnam 50th Celebration Weekend Honor and Remember

Description: The National commemoration period for commemorating the 50th year Anniversary of the Vietnam War is from 2011 to 2025 in each state. Connecticut's event will take place at the CT Air National Guard Base in East Granby and the new England Air Museum in Windsor Locks and will include the Veterans History Project at CCSU, the CT National Guard, the CT Department of Veterans' Affairs, and the New England Air Museum.

 Chamber Young Business Leaders Committee Meeting

Description: As one of the newest committees affiliated with the Chamber, members of the Young Business Leaders come together to engage in community life and expand professional and social opportunities. This group is geared toward professionals between the ages of 21 and 39 however the young at heart are always welcome. All committee chairs and officers must be between the ages of 21-39. We welcome new members to serve as ambassadors for the Central Connecticut area.

YBL meetings are held twice per month, including a morning business meeting held at the Midstate Chamber of Commerce and an evening social meeting held at various restaurants throughout the local area. Each meeting poses the opportunity to meet new people and develop projects that enrich our community.

Description: The Meriden YMCA and Meriden Rotary Club will hold their annual Surf & Turf Dinner following their Golf Tournament. Dinner includes: lobster, filet mignon, corn on the cob, potato, beer, wine, and frozen drinks.

Kids will have their own special picnic while you attend the Surf & Turf Dinner. Children will be supervised by YMCA child care staff. Kids will have fun playing in the bounce house, creating arts & crafts projects, and having their own picnic with hamburgs, hot dogs, chips and drinks. Cost for children is FREE.

Description: The Meriden Historical Society will hold a Tag Sale with a rain date of the Saturday following each originally scheduled date. The cost is a $15.00 ($10.00 for members) donation to the Society per set-up. Donations of items to the Society's Table, such as decorative items, collectibles, paintings, photos, jewelry or small household items in working condition, can be dropped off at the Society’s Research center on any Wednesday between 2:00 and 4:30 pm.

Description: The Meriden Historical Society will hold a Tag Sale with a rain date of the Saturday following each originally scheduled date. The cost is a $15.00 ($10.00 for members) donation to the Society per set-up. Donations of items to the Society's Table, such as decorative items, collectibles, paintings, photos, jewelry or small household items in working condition, can be dropped off at the Society’s Research center on any Wednesday between 2:00 and 4:30 pm.

We welcome new members to serve as ambassadors for the Central Connecticut area.

YBL meetings are held twice per month, including a morning business meeting held at the Midstate Chamber of Commerce and an evening social meeting held at various restaurants throughout the local area. Each meeting poses the opportunity to meet new people and develop projects that enrich our community.
