Councilwoman Pat Lynes announced that a very successful Clean Sweep Day was held on April 14, 2007. Over 200 volunteers picked up an estimated 1,100 bags of litter. 302 cars dropped off waste at the landfill. Patricia Lynes thanked all Take Pride in Meriden committee members that volunteered the day of the event. Patricia also mentioned that that next clean-sweep day is anticipated to be held in July before National Night Out. These are special clean up events, but of course, it is anticipated that both neighborhood and business area clean-up efforts will take place on an ongoing basis to keep our city clean.
