Protein Sciences Corporation reported a profit for the first nine months of 2002. Reported net profits were $340,000 compared to a loss of $1,327,000 at the same time last year. "We are also pleased that our efforts to manage costs continued to bear fruit, as evidenced by our ability to increase revenues by 50% with only a 3% increase in operating costs," reported President and Chief Executive Dan Adams. To help make up for losses at the end of last year, shareholders and directors approved a recapitalization of the company. The company, headquartered on Research Parkway in Meriden, employs 40 individuals. GeneXpress is the companies biggest revenue generator. The program provides cloned protein strands to be used in clinical testing on animals and humans.
