The sixth annual Westfield Works Wonders will take ...

October 24, 2002

The sixth annual Westfield Works Wonders will take place on November 10, 2002 from 6:30 - 10:30 p.m. at all four Connecticut Westfield Shoppingtowns (Trumbull, Connecticut Post, Meriden and Enfield). The charitable event raised over $300,000 for more than 250 Connecticut schools, hospitals and non-profit organizations in 2001. This year's fundraising goal has been set at $400,000 . Non-profit organizations can contact any Westfield Shoppingtown to reserve tickets.

Westfield Works Wonders is a private evening of holiday shopping that benefits non-profit groups. For just $5.00 shoppers enjoy special discounts, in-store promotions, major prize giveaways, entertainment, celebrity appearances, complimentary hors d'oeuvres, free gift wrap and more at each of the Connecticut Westfield Shoppingtowns. All ticket proceeds are donated directly to participating non-profit organizations.

Westfield Works Wonders was first implemented in November 1997 in Connecticut, where the four Westfield Shoppingtowns joined together in an effort to raise a significant amount of money for numerous area charities in one three-hour period. The event has achieved outstanding results over the past five years, raising upwards of $1.5 million for over 300 charities. Last year the event attracted nearly 100,000 shoppers to the four centers.

Based on the success of the program in Connecticut, Westfield Works Wonders was rolled out as a national program in 1998. It it's four year history, the malls raised approximately $5.5 million in contributions for thousands of non-profits. In 2001, over 500,000 people attended the after hours event nationwide.

One of the many ways Westfield Shoppingtowns differentiate themselves from other malls is their dedication to community service. Said Lee Sterling, Senior Marketing Director for Westfield Shoppingtowns, "Westfield Shoppingtowns stand for excellent customer service and a high level of community involvement. Westfield Works Wonders represents the type of community outreach that each of our shopping centers strives to achieve."

Westfield America Trust (ASX: WFA) is the 2nd largest property trust listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. WFA owns a majority interest in the Westfield America portfolio of 61 U.S. shopping centers, branded as Westfield Shoppingtowns. Westfield Shoppingtowns are home to more than 8,000 specialty stores and comprise 62 million square feet of leasable space in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Washington.
