The expansion project at the Boys and Girls Club of Meriden has been delayed. As a result, the opening has been postponed until late spring or early summer. Gary Burt, the club's executive director, said that there was still hope that the building will be ready in time to use the 8,800-square-foot gym for special events in the spring, but added that it would be longer before children are playing sports in the room. According to Jack Biafore, the general contractor and manager, there was nothing wrong and that they were just trying to get things right with the plans for the new building. When completed, the 13,000-square-foot building will nearly double the club's capacity to serve 2,000 boys and girls.
