At the Aqua Turf, a crowd of 200 people mixed and mingled---artists, politicians and many everyday folks were there to lend a hand to support the city's blooming artistic community. The Arts and Crafts Association/Gallery 53 and the Meriden YMCA joined together to present "A Brush With Winter." As a fund-raiser for both the Arts and Crafts Association/Gallery 53 and the YMCA, each organization plans to expand its art offerings to children and adults. Nick Scalise was the featured artist for the evening as well as other artists displaying works of the look of Meriden in the winter. Light classical music was provided by a trio of musicians from the Meriden Symphony Orchestra. Traci DiPietro, director of Gallery 53, was pleased that the goal of linking arts community members had been achieved. Steve Van Ness, director of the KidzArtz program, is hoping to increase the involvement of people in the arts.
