RECYCLE-REUSE-REDUCE

September 27, 2010

RECYCLE-REUSE-REDUCE are no longer just words. They are something that has become a necessity in our daily lives, specifically in today's business world. So when Tari Marshal-Day of the Hampton Inn Hotel of Meriden, CT. reached out to area businesses to see if anyone could reuse some small trash receptacles they were replacing, John Gopoian Facility Manager for Hunter's Ambulance jumped at the opportunity. Mrs. Day was determined not to add such things to area landfills and knew someone would come up with an idea. John had two ideas that popped into his head one morning that indeed were going to make big impact and be fun at the same time..So he employed the help from Barbara Raffile an Administrative Assistant from Hunter's and John's daughter past EMS Youth Explorer and new graduate of the a US Army Combat Medic unit here in Connecticut. First we needed to further encourage office staff to RECYCLE their scrap white office paper, though needed an easier way for people to collect it at their desks, so each employee will be allowed to decorate their new recycle receptacle anyway they'd like. Secondly John's son Nathan who was recently injured while serving in the US Air Force while stationed in Afghanistan and is recuperating at Brook Army Medical Center in Texas where he has been fortunate to have the Fisher House Foundation on his side along with his mom , was on the top of the list. The Fisher House Foundation are homes on military installations all across the United States and abroad. These homes and hotel like rooms are for soldiers and their families to stay at free of charge and rely on an array of donations both monetary and necessities to keep the families comfortable in a home away from home environment. One thing, they rely on is people and companies to donate travel style products such as soap shampoos and other toiletries that you commonly get while staying at a hotel. As we all get excited about collecting those tiny containers of shampoo from are hotel visits and while on vacation. So with that said, The Hunter's Ambulance Youth EMS Explorers put the challenge out to YOU, we need your help to collect up as many of those hotel toiletries we all have saved up to fill our new soldier family care-packages up and we will be filling up a lot. Please consider helping with this project. Next visit to the store or pharmacy load up on those tiny items we all need in our daily lives. Our soldiers and families need our help, Trust me I know

Thanks Mrs. Marshal-Day for being determined !!!
