Organizers of the first Girls Inc. Benefit Celebration on June 14th featured two events: a fundraiser honoring strong, smart and bold women in the community as well as paying tribute to Maureen Bilger as the evening's guest of honor before she retires in August. Mrs. Bilger was the first recipient of the Strong, Smart and Bold award, which will become an annual event. When Mrs. Bilger first came to the organization, she was hired as its program director. The club strives to give young girls confidence to explore their interests in dance, gymnastics, crafts, science, math and other activities. During her tenure, Mrs. Bilger witnessed girls' interests grow into expanded activities. Mrs. Bilger will be leaving the area to work at Glacier National Park for a year, a project about which she is very excited. Assistant Director Maria Drauss will replace Mrs. Bilger.
