The Center is nearing completion, and should be ready in time for its official grand opening in September. The historical restoration to the 98-year-old building totals about $ 2.1 million An elevator has been added to improve handicap accessibility. The grand opening will take place after a director is hired to run programs in the building which once served at the city's first public library. The new director will be responsible for booking events, attracting programs and making the center financially self-sufficient. Laura van Wormer, the acting board's president, plans to hold events every Saturday night.
