When Castle Bank announced its plans to open its location on Hanover Street, a building that once housed Dime Savings Bank was chosen. Now Castle Bank is looking towards opening a branch on East Main Street in a vacant building that was formerly a Pizza Hut. According to Bank President Lawrence McGoldrick, the proposal has been sent to the State Banking Department and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; approvals should be forthcoming in the near future. Adding a branch had always been a part of the bank's founders' plans. In the future, Castle Bank & Trust wants to take a leading role in local economic development, thereby increasing visibility within the community by focusing on locational convenience and easy access to the Greater Meriden Community.
