People's Bank, currently located in the Super Stop & Shop at Broad and East Main Streets, plans to open a second branch in the Stop & Shop in Centennial Plaza in early spring. Stop & Shop is the first of the older conventional stores to house a People's Bank. Company spokeswoman Terry Vandewater has stated that of 200 grocery stores, only 33 are considered conventional. Although the bank in the west-side grocery store will be smaller, it will still be a full-service bank with two ATM's. People's Bank currently offers branches in 46 Stop & Shops.
