Summer Youth Employment Programs

The City of Meriden Youth Services Division is responsible for administering the Summer Youth Employment Program.  This program is funded through the Workforce Alliance, our regional workforce development board, and various other sources.  In 2014, the Liberty Bank Foundation, the Cuno Foundation and the Meriden Foundation all generously stepped up to help grow the program with additional financial resources.  In 2014, 136 youth were employed in Meriden!

The program runs for 6 - 8 weeks each summer.  For many students, it is their very first work experience.  The process begins with an application, a thorough screening of students and employers, training and orientation program and finally a careful matching of a specific student and to a specific job.

We would like to help expand the program so MANY MORE students can have their first employment experience.  We grow the program through increasing the amount of Willing Employers, Great Jobs and Additional Financial Resources.

Checks may be made payable to MEDCO and please write "Meriden Summer Youth Employment" in the memo section.
