 2017 Travelers Championship

Monday, June 19, 2017 through Monday, June 26, 2017

Description: The Travelers Championship will be held August 1 - 7. The tournament, typically played in June, will be moved to August for one year to accommodate the Olympic year PGA TOUR schedule and updates to TPC River Highlands that will enhance the fan and player experiences. The 2017 Travelers Championship will return to its customary third week in June.

"Golf's return to the Olympics for the first time since 1904 will affect the majority of PGA TOUR events taking place from June through August," said Travelers Championship Tournament Director, Nathan Grube. "By working closely with the PGA TOUR, we identified the best timing for recruiting a strong player field and finishing the planned modifications to TPC River Highlands."

The August date allows for the completion of a multi-million dollar course project at TPC River Highlands. Fan and competitive enhancements to the course will begin in the fall and are slated to be completed in 2016. Some of these updates include new areas for grandstands and fan viewing around the signature four finishing holes, modifications to greens, and renovations to bunkers throughout the course. Holding the tournament in August for one year will allow additional time to ensure the course will be ready to host world-class PGA TOUR competition.

"We're already looking forward to another great tournament that will generate significant funds for charity in 2016," added Andy Bessette, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Travelers. "With the 2016 PGA Championship in New Jersey the week before our event, we're expecting the 2016 Travelers Championship field to be as strong as ever."
