Description: Do you enjoy reading romance books? Join the Romance Readers Group to share your thoughts on the authors and books you have enjoyed. This is not a traditional reading group with assigned books to read each month, but a group of like-minded fans of romance literature who meet to discuss the genre in all it's aspects.

 Couponing 101 with Gina Juliano

At Meriden Public Library

Description: As part of our Money Smart Week, Gina Juliano will be back to present her class "Couponing 101." Everyone knows about coupons and how to use them, but not everyone knows how to use them effectively. In this two hour course, participants will learn how to maximize their savings and use coupons to shop for FREE. In addition, participants will learn how to find coupon savings and deals online and in stores. Several tips and tricks for "frugalizing" your pets and home will also be discussed.

Participants will be able to: cut their grocery bill by at least half (within two months of taking this class), use couponing vocabulary, read a blog list of grocery and drug store deals, create an effective shopping list, understand stockpiling, effectively organize coupons, and use coupons to obtain items for free.

 Welcome to the Real World by UCONN Exension Program

Description: Teens: On the road to financial independence? Curious about your life in the future? Come to participate in the program "Welcome to the Real World." This program by the UCONN Extension Program, gives young people (ages 13-18) the opportunity to imagine their lives as young employed adults. They select occupations, find out their incomes and estimated taxes, and open checking and savings accounts. They then visit tables and interact with adult volunteers as they make common spending decisions. Through the learning exercise, they learn about managing money, living within their incomes, identifying spending priorities, saving and dealing with unexpected expenses.

 Business Expo Business After Hours at the 37th Annual Daffodil Festival

Description: This is a special event for our members to kickoff the Daffodil Fest EXPO Showcase before the crowds of the weekend! No fee, but some vendors do sell items - You’ll enjoy beer, wine, soft drinks, this year’s mini Taste of Midstate Chamber where YOU vote for People’s Choice, Most Unique, Most Creative and Best Presentation! DJ entertainment will pump us up and much more is in store including a commemorative glass!  37th Annual Daffodil Festival and 2015 Chamber Business Expo

Description: Save the date for the 2015 Business Expo presented by the Midstate Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsored by: Liberty Bank and Season's Federal Credit Union. Held in conjunction with the 37th Annual Daffodil Festival, this event features up to 60 vendors under one tent. The Festival's activities include a 2 hour parade Saturday morning, a huge variety of food vendors, over 30 continuous musical performances at 3 separate stages, an Arts & Crafts Section, and Carnival Amusements. FREE ADMISSION.

 4th Annual Ion Bank Cheshire Half Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K & Ion Ins. Kids Fun Run

Description: Save the date for the 4th Annual Ion Bank Cheshire Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay, 5K, & Ion Insurance Kids Fun Run. Also there will approximate 80 vendors partaking in the UnitedHealthcare Healthy & Active Living Festival.

The event produces a 60 page magazine for the benefit of supporters that is mailed to every home in Cheshire and surround Cheshire in mid-April. Ad deadline is March 15, 2015.

 Free College Financial Planning Night by College3Less

Description: Is college in your child’s future? Come to the Meriden Public Library for a free college financial planning night by College4Less.

The 2 hour workshop will discuss the FAFSA form, CSS Profile form along with other important information parents need to understand in order to maximize the amount of financial aid they are eligible to receive. This workshop is about Financial Literacy and educating families on the process of getting their student into the best fit college.

College4Less is an independent Connecticut firm offering guidance and assistance to parents and students to better position themselves to get into the colleges of their choice at the least possible cost.  Chamber Young Business Leaders Committee Meeting

Description: As one of the newest committees affiliated with the Chamber, members of the Young Business Leaders come together to engage in community life and expand professional and social opportunities. This group is geared toward professionals between the ages of 21 and 39 however the young at heart are always welcome. All committee chairs and officers must be between the ages of 21-39. We welcome new members to serve as ambassadors for the Central Connecticut area.

YBL meetings are held twice per month, including a morning business meeting held at the Midstate Chamber of Commerce and an evening social meeting held at various restaurants throughout the local area. Each meeting poses the opportunity to meet new people and develop projects that enrich our community.
