Description: Effective Friday, January 8, 2016, the Wallingford Housing Authority (WHA) will open the zero (0) and one (1) bedroom wait list for its McKenna Court Elderly/Disabled housing program only. The closing date for both Waiting Lists will be Monday, March 14, 2016 at 3 p.m. Applicants may apply for one or both waiting lists but separate applications will be required. Following the closing date, each applicant’s Waiting List position will be determined by a lottery selection as set forth in the WHA’s tenant Selection Plan.

Description: What does the 12-month Nurse Practitioner Residency program look like? This webinar, the second in CHC's National Cooperative Agreement (NCA) for Clinical Workforce Development series on Implementing Post-Graduate Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Psychology Residencies will delve into the details of the structure, design, and content of a 12-month, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) based, postgraduate nurse practitioner residency program.

It is not too late to register and participate.

Topics such as recruitment, screening and selection of candidates, core programmatic and curricula elements, and the essential contributions of other staff will be discussed. This webinar will feature speakers from the Community Health Center, Inc.’s first-in-the-nation nurse practitioner residency program and guests from other exemplary programs around the country.

It is part of a series of webinars offered by Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC) and its Weitzman Institute, as part of the National Clinical Workforce Development Initiative. You do not need to participate in every webinar but are encouraged to participate in whichever webinars best meet your particular needs.

 Governor's 2016 Economic Development Forum

Description: Since the early 18th century, composers have been inspired by the world’s most beloved love story. Of Shakespeare’s over 35 plays only "Hamlet" has been set more times to music. The long list of works includes operas, songs, ballets, incidental music, symphonies and overtures, but perhaps no one is more popular than Serge Prokofiev’s danced masterpiece. Jeffrey Engel will present Prokofiev’s ballet as well as explore the rest of the "Romeo" canon.

 Saving Faulkner's Lighthouse

Description: Joel Helander, town historian of Guilford, will present an illustrated program on Faulkner’s Lighthouse, located on an island just off the coast of Madison.

Helander is spearheading an effort called the Faulkner's Light Brigade to mount a grass roots citizen’s campaign to preserve the lighthouse.

His program, sponsored by the American Association of University Women Meriden branch and the Meriden Public Library is free and open to the public.

The talk will feature a history of the Faulkner’s Island, including its use by Native Americans, sale to the English Puritans, farming pursuits by early private owners, establishment of the light station, heroics of light keepers and their families, the fire of 1976, and the beautiful wildlife refuge maintained by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

Helander is a recently retired judge from the Connecticut Probate Court system. He has published numerous papers, tracts, and books about local history, including Noose and Collar: The Story of the Rockland Murder, Madison, Connecticut (1979), Leete's Island Legacy (1981), The Island Called Faulkner's (1988), and A Treasury of Guilford Places (2008).

Wed., Mar. 23: Legal Aspects / Insurance / Tools will review legal forms of business and insurance issues in addition to a review of municipal issues such as permitting - every community / municipality differs! Wed., Mar. 30: How to Contract with the State of CT-Procurement Process and Graduation will give attendees an illustration of the different programs available in registering as a vendor with the State of CT, in addition to information on doing business with local municipalities. Presented by SBA
