Description: Since May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery, Americans have set aside a day in May to remember those who have died in service to our country.

On behalf of the City of Meriden and the United Veterans Council Memorial Day Committee, we would like to invite you to participate in the 2016 Memorial Day Parade. The parade will take place on the "traditional" Memorial Day.

The 2016 parade route will be from Markham Place on Curtis Street, NORTH onto Broad Street (VETERANS MEMORIAL BOULEVARD) and WEST onto East Main Street to the Meriden City Hall. A formal Memorial Day ceremony will take place at City Hall, at the parade conclusion, approximately 11:00 a.m.

The theme of this year’s parade is “Remembering our Veterans- All Wars”. While you're enjoying time with family and friends that weekend, take the time to honor the memory of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the United States. Celebrate responsibly and keep safety a priority for you and those you love.
