 Meriden Memorial Day Parade

Description: The City of Meriden's United Veterans Council invites you to participate at attend the 2018 memorial Day Parade. The parade will start at Curtis St., proceed north on Broad Street past the monuments, turn west down East Main Street and conclude at the New Meriden Green on Pratt Street. The Grand Marshall will be Mr. Larry Prescott, a Vietnam POW veteran. Come out and honor our Fallen Brothers and Sisters who shall never be forgotten!

 Senior Medicare Patrols (SMPs) Volunteer Training

Description: Join the SMP team and protect yourself and others from Medicare fraud and identity theft. Senior Medicare Patrols (SMPs) empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education. Volunteers have flexibility to take part based on their interests. Opportunities include fraud counseling, presentations, promotions, office support and more.

Description: Castle Craig Players presents Neil Simon's "Rumors" for 2 weeks only. At a large, tastefully-appointed townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to expreience a severe attached o Farce. Gathering for their 10th wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room, and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken and wife, Chris, must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and mis-communications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity!

 ATTENTION JOB SEEKERS - Come to the Downtown Meriden Job Fair

Description: Employers looking to hire can find the talent on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the 2018 Job, Employment and Career Fair at 24 Colony Street, Meriden, CT 06451

The lower level of #24 Colony Street, Meriden will be transformed into a networking space from 12:00 Noon through 5:00 PM and feature 25 employers or more.

The job fair is co-hosted by Workforce Alliance, the American Jobs Center, the Midstate Chamber of Commerce and the Making Meriden Business Center.

This is one of a series of job fairs held this spring/summer in South Central Connecticut to bring together jobseekers and employers in the region. Workforce Alliance runs four American Job Centers in New Haven and Middlesex Counties…including the one right at 85 West Main St., Meriden CT.

Jobseekers can get more information at the American Job Centers in Meriden, New Haven, Middletown or Hamden, or visit www.workforcealliance.biz/business-services/recruiting-hiring.

Additional Employer and Job Seeker resources will be onsite during the Job Fair including the Business Services Unit of the Workforce Alliance and a photographer to take LinkedIn profile photos.

All are encouraged to come for the jobs and stay for the music. After the Job Fair, head over to the first concert in the Summer Music Series at the new amphitheater at the Meriden Green from 7-9 PM. The 14-acre Meriden Green is on State and Mill Streets and along Pratt Street.

Both the job fair and the park are easily accessible from the new Meriden train station, which features a pedestrian bridge that connects the downtown area and the Meriden Green.

Employer registration is $300 and includes a box lunch and a reception following the job fair. Free event parking for employers and jobseekers will be provided at the public parking garage directly behind 24 Colony Street and at various sites in downtown Meriden. Food trucks are expected to be in the area for a portion of the day.

Description: Our annual Week of Action will be from June 18-22, 2018 and this year’s request will be for much-needed personal care items (shampoo, conditioner, body soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, feminine products, shaving products, razors, deodorant, etc.) and baby diapers in assorted sizes.

Our United Way is working in partnership with the Rotary Club of Meriden to collect as many of these items as possible for New Opportunities our local Community Action Network.

You can begin your collection now or wait until June 18-22, in either case, if you are interested in participating, please let us know as soon as possible.
